I've often wondered where that term came from, and why it's used when we feel sick. Being me, I had to look it up. lol This is what I found;
"Under the weather" is a nautical term that originated in the British Navy. When a sailor was ill, he was kept below decks, and thus, under the weather.
At any rate, I've been "under the weather" the past couple of days. I caught a bug from some place, though I'm not sure it started out that way. I don't usually get colds unless I'm run down, and I didn't feel run down. Then again, sometimes we don't realize it until we're sick I guess.
My head hurt off and on for a week. Not a steady or pounding headache, just a dull ache at the top of my head and occasionally behind my eyes. A typical sinus headache, which I get quite frequently, especially at this time of year when the weather is up and down. On Saturday when my nose started running non-stop I finally had to admit that I had come down with
something. At first I thought it might be a sinus infection, and it may have been, but it turned into a full fledged cold. I was hot, then cold, sneezing, then coughing....(which didn't help my head any). I didn't feel like doing anything and I
basically didn't, though I did push myself enough to do dishes and a couple of loads of laundry.
Just for the record, there is absolutely
nothing on network
tv in the afternoon (if you're not into soaps or court
tv - which I'm not). I couldn't sleep because every time I tried I started coughing, and my head hurt too bad to read.
When hubby came home he brought take-n-bake pepperoni pizza from Papa Murphy's and cough medicine.
lol After eating some pizza and taking the cough medicine I was so sleepy I could barely keep my eyes open. Thankfully sleeping wasn't a problem. Once I got to sleep I managed to stay there, and I woke up able to breathe and feeling pretty good. I'm still coughing a bit, but I feel much better today.
It was a gorgeous day too, sunny and mid 60s. It's supposed to be quite a bit cooler with the possibility of rain moving in by Friday. I guess fall had to come some time.......And fall in Oregon often means rain.
Even with not feeling well I managed to take a few pictures.....The camera lens is often my 'third' eye, seeing more intricately than the naked eye.
