Sunday Postcard Art

The theme at Sunday Postcard Art is Africa.

Of course my first vision was of elephants, zebra, big cats.....but even as I tried to take the piece that way my mind kept thinking about the movie 'Out of Africa'. The piece weaved its way into being more about a woman's life in a far away land.

I hand wrote the passage using a calligraphy pen/nib.

I came upon this ceramic tile at a local reuse center. I love the color, the style and the texture of it.

Make a Moo or Two

The challenge at MMT - To use a puzzle piece.

I did use a puzzle piece on the second moo, but on the first, I turned the moo into a three piece puzzle (cut freehand). The photo shows it together, and apart.

Theme Thursday - Flowers

I made two ATC's. Both are hand stamped and colored with watercolor crayons. The butterfly is a sticker. The text on the second one is hand written.

Pretty baubles....

These beads were found at two different locations over the past few days. I actually got the beads at a bead store down at the coast, and the agate pieces from a local bead store (Bead Bullies). Just what I need....more beads. lol

An ATC with attitude....

The challenge at TMTA this week is to use a line from a favorite song, book or poem. I have quite a few favorite lines, but I chose to have fun with this one and use a line from a Bon Jovi song (the smirk face is from the album cover).

Simply Skinnies

The theme at Simply Skinnies....alter a photo.

My piece is a real photograph altered with rubber stamping and collage images.

Lots to Do Challenge - Gesso

This ATC was made using watercolor paper that was treated with two coats of gesso. After the gesso was dry I applied acrylic paints. I mixed gesso with red paint to stamp the leaves and dots, edging the card with the same color. I hand wrote the word Dream using paint and a brush. The butterfly is metal, colored with alcohol inks.

Sunday Photo

One of several little guys we came upon during our day trip to the coast last Wednesday.....

I wasn't sure he'd let me get too close, but then it became obvious that he wasn't in the least bit afraid.
