2012! Can you believe it???
We didn't do anything exciting at all last night. We were watching a movie and when it neared midnight hubby asked if I wanted to see the ball drop. I told him I didn't care one way or the other. He didn't either, so we kept on watching our movie.
At a couple of minutes past we said 'happy new year' and that was that. Very uneventful for us. Sad isn't it?I used to dream of the big 1940s style New Year's eve to-do at a big hotel or ritzy club (like the ones you see in old Fred and Ginger movies), but times have changed. That said, I've also reached an age where I figure the new year will come regardless of whether I make a big fuss about it or not, so why fuss?
As we all look towards another new year, may it offer more peace and less worry than the one we leave behind.

Carole, I believe you and your husband did exactly what you both wanted and needed.
Times do change, priorities change, and we hopefully acquire a bit of wisdom along the way... and your post clearly suggests you have acquired plenty.

Happy New Year to you as well, Carole! You did more than me ... I fell asleep on the couch around 10, slept through the celebrations at midnight (which my family said was VERY loud), and woke up to low flying helicopters at 3:30 and 5 am.
Like you said ... a new year comes whether we like it or not ... I'm just thankful we were safe and happy to start 2012!
